ELEcTIoN 2006 - a post to Virginians
"Control of the Senate is going to come down to Tennessee and Virginia"
- Brad Coker, Mason Dixon Polling
OK guys, it's time to get out there and work to make a difference! Join the fight and come out to volunteer for the George Allen campaign this next week! (If you're not a Virginia friend - go volunteer where you are!)
Let's all talk about a few issues we care about...the marriage issue, taxes, illegal immigration, the war in Iraq... It's time to do a little work for what's important.
Here's our family (Anna came too!) introducing ourselves to George Allen and cheering him on
I (Laura) have been volunteering for a while now and I've drafted Katie and Caleb into it with me! We have a lot of fun actually...putting out the signs is definitely the BEST!!
So if you can't give a block of time (wimp), then just get some signs and put 'em up!
(If George Allen loses, we're blaming it on you)

Oookaaay....So, we're going to tell you what we've been up to! We didn't remember to bring the camera so we don't have many pictures...*sigh* "Why even post then?" you ask...well, we have a few anyway! Our Indiana Trip (Laura is in pink, and Katie is in green...that's the color of shirts we're wearing right now. haha)MONDAY:I got to Marion, and Corey (becca's boyfriend) took Becca and I out for ice cream!! We told funny stories and laughed a ton..- I got to the counseling seminar, met my roommates, ate with Matthew, saw the people I knew who were there, & had the first session.TUESDAY:- Went for a funny bike ride, hung around (lunch, whatever), drove to Fairmount, and I think that was also the night Becca, Corey and I played games. Dutch Blitz, Speed, Spit, & Uno.- The music came through the speakers at 6:00. I woke up and started my day. I met my team ('cause I ate with Matthew the night before and didn't meet them then) and sat in sessions.WEDNESDAY:- Becca and I woke up early to get our day started with a nice breakfast! I tagged along with her in the morning to classes. We also went to our cousin, Rhoda's house, in Kokomo for supper and a good time! We went to Starbucks afterwards and had yummy, yummy cider!- The music came through the speakers at 6:00. I woke up and started my day. I'm not exactly sure, but I think that it was the day I went to Starbucks with Amelia and Mrs. Danaher. I got a caramel frappachino thanks to Mrs. Danahers great advice. Also went to South Campus that day. It was rainy but they served a good lunch. - haha.THURSDAY:- Why do I always need to go first, you go ahead Katie.- The music came through the speakers at 6:00. I woke up and started my day. Sat through some more good sessions, studied, and that night we had an hour of prayer. That was cool. After that, we had ice cream! yay! (they should have had oreos and toppings)- Took a slow morning, I think we mighta watched a little TV or whatever, and then went out to lunch. Corey came along and so did a good friend of mine - Marty. You've maybe seen a picture of him on here from our last Indiana trip. We took some pictures, went to Starbucks again, I saw where Becca worked, and left for Westfield that afternoon. Had a good visit and supper with Nathan and Sharon that night, and I called my Dad....it was the day of surgery. (not that I didn't talk to him or mom on all the other days
)FRIDAY:- The music came through the speakers at 6:00. I woke up and started my day. More sessions, a lot of study time, and then that night people gave testimonies for about 4 hours straight! That was a highlight for me.- Had a very nice day at Jonathan and Shaun's house (former Pastor & family). Sharon and I watched Brenton and Emily for a while, we ate a nice lunch, picked up Chandler from school, played games and puzzles, and had pizza + dessert.SATURDAY:- Sharon and Nathan fixed me a nice breakfast (nathan actually did most of the cooking while Sharon and I were busy with other stuff..) Nathan helped me with our car, and then I headed off to pick Katie up.- The music came through the speakers, NOT at 6, but 7 o'clock! Slept in, cleaned up my room, studied some more, and took a test. - She did great in it by the way. - That was fun because I felt like a teacher, since I got to grade someone else's test. The only bad part was, I had to add up their score! - LOL LOL. Then Laura came to get me! We watched the slide show, and I got in there like 7 times! We didn't count, but my friends told me so.- oh yeah, *doin' a little dance* - Then we left. - After talkin' with people there.MORE ON SATURDAY (after getting together.)We drove towards Elizabeth's house (our cousin in Ohio), but we thought it would be kinda fun and interesting to stop in at GBS (God's Bible School) on our way. We had never seen it before. Anyway, a real good friend of ours goes to school there, and some other people that we know too. Also, we have a friend who teaches there. SO yeah, it was a really fun stop - "hi Meredith...hi Kristi"After GBS, we went to Elizabeth's & had a very nice visit. We put up birthday decorations (for her daughter turning 3), and slept over night. Because this is getting SOOOO long, we'll stop here. Besides. Our trip is like...over. We left the next day (Sunday). OK - now that you skipped all the words (or else are taking a sigh of relief now that you're finally finished reading through it) it's time for some pictures!!can you find Katie?that's it 'cause like we said, we forgot the camera -
Well, here goes the second attempt at posting some pictures! The 18th was
my one month anniversary of arriving in Chicago. Time sure does fly!
Everyone here has been really nice and welcomed me in and shown me the
ropes. My house is nice, my housemates are nicer. My work is fine and my
co-workers are great! So the people are good but the food is TOO good!!
There are so many sweets and things around here that it's...yummy but...bad
Þ I really have to make sure I watch what I eat! Especially since
I'm going to be in an important wedding in January ;o)!! Anyway, I better
get on to posting the good stuff (if it decides to work this time...) ;o)
Well, I tried but the pictures tab wasn't working for me so...I called my
older sister of course! Laura said that she would post what I send her over
e-mail. Isn't that nice of her
) What an ordeal this is...but it's
pictures! We can go out of our way for that ;o)This is a few of us at an ice cream shop after we finished singing at a
nearby nursing
home (I do that every Monday night). Eating ice cream is about the best
thing to do with friends you know
) Going clockwise around the table is:
Jason, Nathan,
Ben, Karen, and Me. The girls in the background are with our group too.
The brunettes are some girls that I work with (Erika and Brianna)
and the blonde is Shelly. Micaela (another girl I work with) is also
at that table. Jonathan and Jamee are behind the camera. Was
that a long enough explanation of that picture?
)This is...*clear throat*...the ATI department staff. Well, actually a lot
of the staff were at a retreat so all of us that stayed decided to have a
little fun on Friday B-) (We really do get work done
) )Our true selves coming out ;o)
The gang ;o) I'm leaning on the second to furthest pole, and am the one
closest to the building.
Haha. We had fun. Well, that's it. Some pictures + a few words = a good
post ;o) Do I deserve your 2 e-props now Katie? ;o)

Me at Headquarters
Hey everybody! I don't have all that much time (which seems to always be the case when I'm on the computer) but I wanted to say hi and tell you a little about what's been goin' on here in the Chicago area. And as you know, the best way to post or tell about something is with pictures so....
)Well....if I can ever get this new blog entry window to work....erg!
*Running out of time*.....
Well, this is a really sad post.....I can't get the "photos" tab to work so that I can post my pictures! I have to go though! Humph! I'll try again later (if I ever get the time). I miss all of you in Virginia!! I'll see ya later!

visiting time
So, I drove Katie to the counseling seminar on Monday and now I'm hangin' out with Becca at IWU. So far it's been a lot of fun and also very interesting. I'm leaving this afternoon about 3 and going to visit our former Pastor and his family along with another couple who moved here from our Church. I'm looking forward to that too.
It was interesting going to class with Bec yesterday, and chapel was really good/challenging. I've been observing college kids and one thing I've noticed around here...they all wear jeans! Most of them, and most everyday...jeans. I'm not used to observing such a large group of people that are all in the same age range. So anyway.
Tuesday night while Becca was at a little study group I decided to get in my car and visit my ol' home town. Just to drive around or whatever...it's different the way you see things when you're at a different age and all. I happened to run into a few old friends and one friend that totally surprised me!! I found Hannah Havens in the grocery store (not just any grocery store, THE grocery store) and she invited me to her apartment to have a little supper and talk for a bit. Anyway, it was a cool little adventure to Fairmount and it was cool to see her (and the other guys) again.
Well, even though I might be able to talk more I will not. Words can get boring..........

The Happenings of Late....
First off, Jarod is engaged!!!!! He had been waiting for God to bring the perfect girl in His time, and that girl is Anna (aka..Sherri Suzanne, Hettie, and more that we'll learn later.) He and his fiance, Anna, are here this week and we've been having a GREAT time together.
We went out and took some pictures with Anna's nice camera. It was really fun to use but a lot of them were fuzzy because we weren't used to the camera. *bummer*
The pictures don't do her justice.

Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life. Proverbs 4:23
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The first day they were here we went ice skating in the afternoon. That was fun!
...and went to Carls (of course)
It's so much fun to talk about wedding stuff.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, some stuff that's been new for us. Our Dad was diagnosed with cancer on September 22nd. They say it's stage 4 and would be even higher if there was higher because of the size of the tumor that he had removed. BUT (big but...haha) The Lord is good and all of the scans he's had done have come back clear!! He still has some more stuff to do (duh!) which includes surgery next Thursday (12th), so just remember him in your prayers.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Our Grandpa is coming for a visit next week! He hasn't been able to visit us in so long and we're all looking forward to him coming. He's going to stay with us for a while and then go on up to Hershey to hang with the Hausers. Some other good friends of ours are coming for a short visit tomorrow, and that will be real nice.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Some Fall activities that will be talked about more later if we feel in the mood are:
- Counseling Seminar
- Indiana Visit (we'll see)
Youth Challenge
Camp Fires
- Utah
- Babysitting
- Birthdays!
- ELECTIONS
and....last but certainly not least,
- FOOOOOOD!
Talk to ya later

Football season started!
We always have fun watching our Colts, and this year we got into a little fantasy football too.
The jerseys! This is on the night of the first colts game. We actually hardly got to watch any of the game. Some of it, but not enough. We were havin' snacks and all but you know how we're a pretty political family? WELL, there was a controversial and actually pretty interesting TV movie on called "The Path to 9-11" that was on at the SAME time... Well, since that was important, and it would only be on that once, we watched that the most.
For lunch today, there wasn't much around so Laura made pancakes and Caleb made cinnamon syrup. Mmm...
Who else does peanut butter on pancakes?
We just got back tonight from taking Krissy to the airport. Hopefully she will post something on here soon!

...And I'm Off
Ok, so I'm going to go to the ATI headquarters in Chicago. I'm gonna be working there for a while. So far all the older Hintons have worked there at some time or another so I guess it's my turn
) Haha...yeah.. I'm leaving Monday and am staying until their Christmas break. I'm not sure when that is but it'll be before Christmas
) I'm nervous about going but I know this is what God wants me to do and that He's gonna be with me the whole time. So recently I've been hangin' out with friends I won't see in a while (love ya Quanns and Holly!), shopping, and figuring out what I can buy and what I should pack. Us girls (Laura, Katie and I) just got home from goodwill where we were looking for suit jackets. I have to wear a jacket to work in everyday! We found 4 nice ones and a couple cool necklaces too
) Good stuff. Laura and Katie were really nice and gave their great advice to help me decide through all the jackets we found. You have to be kinda patient to shop with me ;o) Well, I'm hungry and I think we're all going to go out as a family pretty soon so I gotta get goin'. It's also Hannah's turn. Say hi Hannah. "Hi" (with a smile). Bye everybody and I'll see ya when I see ya ;o)
