Have you forgotten?

Today, I'm remembering with passion and wet eyes.
The end of summer! We all say that the Summer is over when school starts, but really, it's not yet...
These are pictures of different things we did before our Summer "ended."
We went to our old friends house, the Putneys, for a weekend. Here we are playin' a little Dutch Blitz on Sunday afternoon...we love that game!
)
OK, so the oven was cool! They are living in an old house and Laura thought that since she had pearls on that she needed to pose as a happy 50's wife. "Where's Beaver?"
AND..since we're on the subject of the 50's let's talk about this themed shop! We needed to try this ice cream place because it had been voted "best ice cream in the Fredericksburg area" and we had never even heard of it! *GASP!* We made it a date with Mom...she loves sweets too. (Laura: I think if I could pick a time to live in, it would be the 50's)
"Are you twins? NO? Well, who's older?"
After ice cream, we decided we should play the Elvis pinball machine!! It was so fun
)
Our good friend Kathryn Allen came for a visit while she was in the DC area. We had a good time. It was nice to have a friend to be with while our basement was flooding...
God gave grace and we were able to keep in good spirits during the flood. All day we took shifts sucking water. Up stairs it was peaceful. We put on some music, did a puzzle, baked a bunch of cookies (3 different kinds!!), had coffee, cocoa, & tea (notice the coffee flavors and pot on the table), and put a little box of cookies together to send to Kathryn's sister. We heard she wasn't feeling well but that she could still eat cookies!
You want one don't you? In the morning we wanted to go out for breakfast together...donuts of course! One of our favorite places: KRISPY KREME
After eatin', we put our hats on (you know the ones) and walked around in Wal-Mart.
Labor Day
) This is our ATI picnic. That's right, be jealous, ours are cool. "Oh, we have the best chicken - tell 'em!" -Krissy. By the way, that's Nasia on the floating thing
Currently listening to - Nasia's play list
We just got back last night from a weekend visit to Georgia and Jarod
We had a ton of fun and of course we're going to tell you about it with pictures! *boo yah!*
Our arrival night! Jarod grilled us some hot dogs (gooood stuff!)
Before we left we did our nails
We had wanted to do them before but because we're always doing housework and sports, we had to wait for something like a weekend trip... Can you figure out who's hand is who's?
You know how we like pictures right? Here we are checkin' out Jarod's on his laptop.
We have a fun story behind this! Jarod caught this screen as it was falling and then we had to figure out how to get it back up without a ladder...'cause we couldn't find one! (this is at J-rod's Church)
After we got it set back up we settled down to watch the movie Jarod, Matt, and friends had made last month. It was cool, and they entered it in a contest too.
Our great brother, Matty-Patty!
We went bowling on Saturday afternoon with the Claytons.
This was the first time for most of us to shoot a gun. It was fun, but all of us girls missed hitting the skeet
( Truman did awesome even though he had never tried - got 3 in a row!!
After shooting, supper (2nd night for hot dogs but this time there were hamburgers too), & volleyball, we learned a new card game. We had a bunch of fun with them on Saturday!
We hung out with the Woods some too. The younger kids and Mom hung out at their house while the older ones and Dad went to a Bible study led by Jarod. They served supper at the Bible Study and guess what it was?! Our 3rd night for hot dogs! Good thing we really like 'em!
)
Sunday night, back at Jarod's place. Our last night was spent sitting together and eating ice cream...the perfect ending.
After our visit to D.C. we went back to Hershey to spend the night and go to Hershey Park. We slept in, ate, hung out, and then left. We did rides for a while and then went back for supper. Then Jonathan met up with us for the last couple hours. It was such a blast!!
hangin' out. Our friend Rick (curly head) came with us too.
You know those pictures they have after the ride? Well, this is a picture of the picture. Storm Runner is our favorite. whoo-hoo!!
Riding the cars.
Some went on the Comet while others went on small rides.
We didn't get enough pictures because we used our battery in DC. Rick might send us a couple pictures he took, so maybe you'll see more later.
)
AND... this weekend we are going to Georgia to visit Jarod!! We're gonna have so much fun cramming all 12 of us into his apartment.
(fyi: this is Laura)
Just learning some things on the internet today
) Here's something you probably don't know about Margaret Thatcher -
She graduated with a second-class degree and worked as a research chemist for British Xylonite and then J. Lyons and Co., where she helped develop methods for preserving ice cream. She was a member of the team that developed the first soft frozen ice cream.
And here's something I think we should all remember for next year
In 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month in the United States, and the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day.
We got to go to DC on Wednesday and it was a blast! We met up with Becca (cousin) and Matt came with us too. Since Matt was with us, we made him our chauffeur... It's nice not to have to worry about directions at least.
On our way into DC
Dorothy's ruby slippers! The American History Museum is a favorite.
We love to get Chinese food whenever we're in DC. Can you find the hidden brother?
)
Take Time To Tour The Tower .....
"It's not how these officers died that made them heroes, it's how they lived"
We went to see our Uncle's name on the Law Enforcement Memorial
We spent a lot of time on the Metro at the end of the day... "hey! It's going the other way!"
The Capitol is so pretty!
Katie: Touring our hometown. Oh how much fun we had! Just a pointer for life: make sure someday you dress up dorky for all to see. It's almost as fun as eating cookies and ice cream ![]()
Group Picture! Don't you just love that the Quanns brought their woody mini van for the occasion? Love the fanny packs!
We went to a candy shop while we were in town, and bought...well, candy! Laura picked up a big hunk while she was there too ;o)
We had fun playing tourist! Everyone was asking us where we were from and people our age looked at us funny. Very good time.

Hey guys, I just wanted to plug a couple of great movies for you and your family. I highly suggest buying them both but if not, then you should at least watch them.
The Privileged Planet
&
Unlocking the Mysteries of Life
We watched them these past few Sunday's for our main service (Sunday's are different these days). You can look for them on Amazon, I think that's where we got them.
