  •    June is the kick off month to our Summer.  It's been filled with baseball games, birthday party after birthday party, planting flowers, seeing free movies in the theater, and filling our pool..with pounds and pounds of chemicals!!  We also decided to have a week this month where we played a different sport everyday.  Today is softball (which may end up being in the rain), but so far we've checked off tennis, ultimate frisbee, basketball, volleyball, and flag football!  It's been so much fun!  We've now been decorated with enough bruises and scrapes to make us proud.  It also really helps your tan to play in 90 degree weather!  But alas...today we must play without 3 of our cutest players.  No, it's not us :) ....Mom, Nasia, and Hannah left for Kansas this morning.  They're riding along with some family from Pennsylvania and will be gone for about a week or so.  They have to miss out on Greg's 11th birthday and our 4th of July bash :( .  We'll miss them but they'll be having a great time visiting our relatives!

We're looking forward to the rest of our Summer plans!  Which should include....

    • 2 youth camps
    • a girl's retreat
    • 2 ice cream socials
    • a trip to an amusement park
    • visit from a friend
    • more touring our town and DC
    • swimming
    • 2 weddings
    • trips to carl's!
    • more free movies :)
    • gettin' together with our cousins
    • dog watching
    • spontaneous good times
    • catching up with people who are on summer break
    • dreaming

  • Starting NOW.  Laura is typing out everything that comes out of our mouths...we'll see how it goes...

    *laughing*

    *clearing throat*

Katie: So, we went to Nashville, TN for our homeschooling conference.  We always have a blast but first we have to get there...which is part of the blast.

Krissy: You have to say who said it.  *Laura starts making quote marks* You don't have to do quotes.

    Katie: No you can't...*funny noise*

Laura: I'm going to do that.  I just didn't get to it yet.

Katie: They might have a hard time following this conversation.

    Laura: I think....nooo....it just won't WORK!!!

Krissy: No, hey I like the idea.

Laura: Nope.  I think it's too hard...we're all quiet and then say random things that don't really make sense.  I say we go back to our first idea...or something like that anyway.

Katie:  Yeah, me too, we talk too much.

    *it's settled*

    STOPPED 3 minutes later.

Katie & Laura matched fer travelin' day - wearing a hat and sunglasses.  We needed a picture of course!  It took almost too long to take the picture..I wasn't looking at the road for that whole pose.

    funvan

Girls traveled in the mini van, boys were in the rental with Mom...and we met Matt, Dad, Jarod, and Anna there!

Laura got a Ricky Nelson CD for her birthday from Nasia!  "he's so cool"

    REGISTRATION

We helped with registration in the morning and had a grand ol' time.  We got to see HQ people we knew and see other families we've met along the ATI road too.

After the morning rush, we decided it was time for a little more fun!

After that we went to get lunch in the food court at the mall.  That was fun.  Us girls all got Subway "eat fresh!"  We are stinky at ordering there!  OH well, it ended good.  After lunch we also went to see Shrek in the theater which was better than us girls thought it would be...  Had a good afternoon. :)

    shoe

Aw!  Beautiful!!  Between all us ladies we sure did bring a lot of shoes!

    skirts

us 3 girls were in the same car on the way to the first session, and Krissy decided to take a picture of our cute skirts.  *weird*

    flags

It's kinda a stinky picture but it was a big highlight!  The first night was beautiful, with men kneeling to pray for our nation and the flag standing in the background...(Laura: made me really tear up!)  We even had David Barton, who's so awesome!  Too bad he's already married...and too old...and there's not 3 of him...or even just 2 ;)

    poptartnight

Afterwards we wanted to see our lobby and explore our place.

We found a vending machine (good thing we had our purses), and then decided to work off our pop-tarts in the exercise room.

The first full day.  LUNCH outa da van.

Us sisters always had lunch together and then went off to choir practice.

After the evening service was the Presidential Awards banquet.  We walked in and it felt very formal...which reminded us of some kind of "Emma party", which we of course watched Jarod act out...Anna's still in training.

And now we're finally at the end of the post.  That took a long time and we're bored now. BUT...just gotta mention:

Laura:  The conference was great this year.  It's always good but I felt like it was especially good this year :)   I feel like God is going to be using that group to make a difference in this world - duh I guess, but anyway.  And hopefully that will include me!  My favorite part was all the prayers.  Powerful prayers...and spoken blessings.  I was also encouraged to see how some friends have grown in the Lord in the past year...   There's some people, who just by being around, encourage you to be a better person yourself.

Katie:  One really cool thing that happened was that a girl was healed from her terrible back and neck pains after the whole group finished praying together.  That was a fun thing to witness!  I feel like after these conferences are over that I have so many things to work on still!  *urg*  Oh well,  makes me think of that song..  "He's still workin' on me...to make me what I outta be.."  :)

Krissy:  Ok, so they decided that they were each going to say something and be all "deep" but I don't have anything to say.  The conference was good and fun.  It had some really good messages but I didn't get anything specific or "big" out of it.  I was inspired after a couple sermons on  making a difference and "changing the world"...ok..maybe changing the world is "big" ;o)  I liked the choir (it's always my favorite), and the student testimonies.  So yeah, that's the low down :o )

    Until next year...

  • So I went to the movies...

...what movie did I see? Spider Man 3 *DUH!* Of course I really liked it and had a ton of fun seeing it, but I'm mad. Actually, no - not because a certain character died (don't wanna spoil it for anyone), but because of the previews I saw before the movie started. I'm still thinking about them...I'm still thinking about where the Countries culture/media and morals have gone in less then 50 years, and wondering how someone like me could change it.

People my age, but especially the ones just a few years younger, are growing up believing that premarital sex, indecent exposure, ludeness, & homosexual behavior is normal and accepted...I guess in many places they are...but is this what parents want for their kids? Do they care that this is the type of American culture their children are getting used to? Do people think showing these types of things to kids is in any way going to help them grow up to be moral and upstanding?

What about the adults though? I'm disgusted at the way that our culture defrauds us, all of us - men and woman. Thinking that it's something we're desensitized to or something. When these types of pictures, posters, and previews are shown, women are looked at as nothing more then an object. Men and boys are being taught to view us in an immoral way. What about the men who are fighting, FIGHTING to keep themselves pure? It's not enough the way woman of today dress, and it's not enough the movies, and tv shows, now it pops up in ways they can't control in the least. We HAVE to go through the line in the grocery store to buy our items...there sit the magazines. We carefully select a movie to see and what we were never warned of now stares us in the face. We walk through the mall and see posters, we watch sports and see...well, you know. I don't know what that's like for a man (*smile*), but I know that I want to fight it for my friends, for my dad, and for my brothers.

The previews shown at that family movie were absolutely NOT family friendly!! I'm sure you're all familiar with the green screen that pops up with the words "Approved for all audiences" before they show a preview....what a lie! And what a joke. They KNOW that the things they show should not be "approved"; they just don't care to take any time to have to think it through. If they can get away with it (which they have obviously been able to), then why not? No one seems to care or notice, why not show whatever they want? Whatever makes money, whatever pushes buttons, whatever takes it past the last line they crossed.

Things might be different at different theaters, maybe you didn't think yours were so bad...but I was so proud of my little 12-year-old brother who knew immediately to look away from that huge screen with surround sound, and wait until I told him it would be alright to look again. Proud, but sad that he even had to look away, and that there were plenty of other men who weren't. Plenty of others who were laughing at the "jokes."

Oh, and if you haven't seen Spider Man already, take a little advice and remember to get your popcorn during the previews or to arrive late.

With Gods help, and if He wills it, I hope to someday make a change in the way my beloved American culture is heading....

    happy birthday to meee

Thanks to you who sent birthday wishes my way last Wednesday.  It's always something special when friends remember when it's your birthday.  It reminds me of years ago when a couple friends for some reason just couldn't remember that my birthday was the 25th and not the 24th...they called and wished me a happy birthday and felt so good they had remembered...haha!  Close enough.

So my birthday was a normal one.  I even did a little house work which I didn't mind...everyone else was gone birthday shopping, which considering, was a very important thing for them to be out doing!! ;)

Alright, well enough words.  But real quickly here ...

Wednesday night was our Bible study night (also my birthday).  The man who leads the study always asks different people to pick some songs for the evening.  I got to pick one that day...

All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
    All my being's ransomed pow'rs;
All my thoughts and words and doings,
All my days and all my hours.

    Let my hands perform His bidding;
    Let my feet run in His ways;
    Let mine eyes see Jesus only;
Let my lips speak forth His praise.

    Oh, what wonder! how amazing!
    Jesus. glorious King of kings,
Deigns to call me His beloved,
Lets me rest beneath His wings.

This song was beautiful to me, and I just want to say that while I have strived to live these past 22 years all for Jesus, I commit to live at least 22 more!

         ~ Laura

And now for some random pictures...
