Presidents Day in Fredericksburg

First we set off for Kenmore Mansion.  This is the home of Betty Lewis, George Washington's sister.

Then it was off to George Washinton's boyhood home (and Betty's)

Driving into the visitors center.  They don't have any actual structures from when the Washingtons lived there...they all burned down!

What a gorgeous day we had!!  It actually ended up raining when we left and remained gloomy the rest of the day.  Too bad for the boys, they went out camping afterwards!

Presidents Day is FREE admission day to both Kenmore and Ferry Farm.  Definitely the day for everyone to go!  They even serve cake to celebrate George's birthday *yay!*

We were there early enough to watch the sun wake up...

Aaron made a video of the very momentous event

A cop drove up and asked us what we were doing...  "waiting for Carl's to open"    He got a good laugh out of us.

We played dominos and colored pictures while we waited for it to open.

A radio station showed up and paid for our ice cream!    We all got on the radio for being there and got a special mention for being FIRST in line.  *yaaay!!*

Matt bought all of us girls a chocolate rose        We ended up drawing a number for the meal/plate you got for supper.  There were different meals on each plate!

We had a late, late home theater presentation after everyone got back together from the airport, Maryland, basketball practice, and babysitting.    We watched Astronaut Farmer.  We didn't really want to, but we ended up being happy with it in the end.

Recently I have been memorizing and studying some verses on love that have really spoken to me about the love that God has for us.  The Creator of the universe and the One that made us from the dust of the earth loved us enough to send His only Child so that our sins would be completely washed away and we could live with Him in His holy heaven someday.  I know it's basic but my eyes have just been reopened to how amazing His love really is for us!  And like it says in these verses, if God loves us that much shouldn't we love others with as deep a love as possible?  It's just been awesome to me!  I don't know if you'll see much in it but you can read a few of my favorite verses on love and see what they say to you this lovely -

Valentines Day. 

1 John 4:7-11

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God;

and everyone that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

In this was manifested the love of God toward us,

because that God sent is only begotten Son into the world,

that we might live through Him.

Herein is love, not that we loved God but that He loved us

and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

January Happenings

Ice Skating

The boys baught a tent with their Christmas money from Grandpa and set it up in the backyard.  It had been a nice day, so us girls wanted a turn too!

Katie and I sat down to color pictures with some kids at a church today while we waited for lunch to be ready.  I flipped through the pages, and didn't really like my options...  I came to this one, saw a little girl looking in the mirror and liked it well enough. haha.  "A girl, a mirror..yeah..this one will do" 

Then I looked at what the words said on my page. 

Girls, we should always remember Who we represent when we get dressed!  Are we putting fashion and attraction higher than our thoughts of glorifying Christ and reflecting Him to others?  These were good thoughts for a girl like me, and hopefully something we all put into practice...
